May 3, 2025 I’m going through old digital backups looking for art we can use for a new song we recorded. The filename on this photo is called “allfourdecent”.&nbsp; I remember we did a photoshoot with our friend Todd, and we had hundreds of photos to choose from.&nbsp; Each of us found something about every photo of ourselves we didn’t like, but this one at least we felt was ok at the time, although I don’t think we ever used it for anything. Looking back at how young and gorgeous we were, I can’t help but feel a sense of loss at not truly appreciating all that at the time. &nbsp; Making music now, worrying about my age and when I’m going to be too old to keep doing this, racing against some clock to do something before it’s too late, I remember even then having that feeling, like at 20 something I already aged out. Such a silly thing to worry about. A few months(years?) ago the four of us got together and made some music together.&nbsp; Ross recorded it and lovingly mixed it into something that sounds like it could have been recorded by these 4 kids all those years ago.&nbsp; I think we were channeling what we used to feel when we were together back then. &nbsp; We had so much fun making music and playing shows, and we had the most amazing group of friends.&nbsp; Between the basement where we practiced, the porch, house parties and the rave parties - everywhere we went was full of people we loved and loved to be with. Of course times like that can’t last forever.&nbsp; We knew that then, and I think we truly did live like being together and living the most we could every day was all that mattered.&nbsp; But still, the end came slowly, almost imperceptibly, until one day it was just all gone.&nbsp; Everyone moved away, had families, kids, got careers, got married, moved on.&nbsp; Most of us I think moved on to something better, something you can’t really do when you're partying all the time with your friends living every day like it’s all that mattered.&nbsp; My brother, for example, made a family.&nbsp; He created four lives and is nurturing them and they are infinitely more beautiful and important than any music we could have made together.&nbsp; Others struggled to move on.&nbsp; Some of the brightest stars died young.&nbsp; I think all four of us were feeling this energy when we recorded this song.&nbsp; The lyrics came fast and fully formed, and for me captured what I was feeling as well as I could.&nbsp; More than anything I was missing everyone and feeling my responsibility for moving on and leaving them behind - whether physically, when I moved to Minneapolis, or just going through the process of trying to find what to do after being in a band and finding new passions, and letting them find theirs.&nbsp;
