We are really excited to release this song for many reasons. Writing and performing this song made us feel really good. It clicked right away and brought us so much joy. If felt like we finally captured all the love we have inside and gave us a way to express it.
First, you need to know. that we are huge Julia Fox fans. Wendy has been really inspired by watching her do her thing and be herself. Watching Julia be so true to herself and free helped her overcome the fear of putting herself out there and identify as a singer and artist, and finally be able to have FUN being in a band.
Then one day in NYC we saw her. We were on our way to the pride parade standing on a corner and there she was right next to us in the flesh with a few of her cool friends. It was energizing being close to her and feeling her energy and thinking about where she was coming from and where she was going and what it would be like to be her friend and we wrote a song about how all that made us feel, and every time we play it we feel like that again. So we are excited to share that feeling with you now!
Now we have this amazing song, and now we needed amazing art. A little backstory. We discovered one of our favorite artists ever - Heather Benjamin - in this little shop called Muddguts in Brooklyn several years ago. There was an album there with a cover she designed and a zine we picked up. Her art is really so incredible - seriously go check it out and see for yourself - and we’ve been continually inspired by what she is doing. When we first started making music, and privately uploading things to soundcloud, we used some of her designs as covers, just for us to enjoy and the aesthetics just made our music sound so much cooler. We always dreamed of one day actually getting her to design something for us. As part of our new just go for it attitude, we worked up our courage and sent her this song and asked her if she’d design a cover for us and she said yes!!!!! This is what she made for us.
Absolutely the most perfect imaginable cover art for this song that we were so excited about. Thank you Heather, you saying yes meant so much to us. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Then another cool thing happened. A record label started taking an interest in doing a release with us. We’ve always been huge fans of Guilt Ridden Pop. We are thrilled to be working with Keith and have his help get this song out there and broadcast into the universe.
